The introduction of a Container Deposit Scheme for Victoria

In an effort to reduce single-use plastic waste, Victoria intends to introduce a container deposit scheme. Most other Australian States have operated container deposit schemes for a considerable time. Victoria has previously addressed environmental waste primarily by comprehensive kerbside collection systems using colour-coded bins administered by municipalities. These existing municipal collection systems will continue in Victoria concurrently. This article explores the Victorian scheme and investigates how other states regulate this matter.
