Why it is easier to claim that a complementary medicine has been “Made in Australia” than a food

In December 2020, Australia’s consumer protection laws were amended to make it easier for manufacturers of complementary medicine products to claim that their products had been “Made in Australia”. This article addresses the reasons for this change and questions whether food manufacturers have been short-changed, given the significantly more onerous requirements that apply to origin claims made in relation to foods.
