The global regulation of maximum residue limits

The residues of pesticides and other agricultural and veterinary chemicals which remain on or in food products or a food product ingredient after the cultivation process must be controlled in accordance with prescribed maximum residue limits for the food or the final product made from the affected food ingredient. This article explores how residue limits are regulated within Australia and how this fits within Australia’s international obligations under the SPS and TBT agreements as a member of the World Trade Organization.
