FSANZ’s upcoming review of Chapters 3 & 4 of the Food Standards Code: Food safety processes in Australia’s regulatory system

On 3 May 2019, Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) released an information paper outlining its current review of Chapters 3 and 4 of the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code (Food Standards Code). The goal of this review is to improve Food Safety Management throughout Australia by unifying state and territory laws and promoting an over-arching, transparent regulatory culture of safety. This article outlines the scope of this review and provides commentary on the major changes proposed by FSANZ.
