Food industry implications of recent Australian Federal Parliamentary allergy report

In June 2020 the Federal Parliamentary Standing Committee on Health, Aged Care and Sport released the report of its inquiry into allergies and anaphylaxis. The inquiry considered the treatment of allergies under Australia’s federal health system and the report sets out 24 recommendations across numerous sectors, including the food sector. This article addresses these recommendations, and explores how they interact with existing regulatory developments regarding food allergens.
