L-carnitine as a food ingredient

L-carnitine is subject to limited permissions for use in food. In August 2018 Food Standards Australia New Zealand finalised an Application to widen its permissions for use. This article addresses the metabolisation, health effects and the legal status of L-carnitine as a food ingredient.
