Victorian Meat Industry Act 1993 The purposes of this Act are: - to set standards for meat production for human consumption and pet food; - to set up a licensing and inspection system and a mechanism for adopting and implementing quality assurance programs to ensure that those standards are maintained; - to enable the regulation of meat transport vehicles; - to establish the Victorian Meat Authority to operate that licensing and inspection system and arrange for the adoption and monitoring of quality assurance programs; - to empower the Authority to perform the functions conferred on it by the Seafood Safety Act 2003; - to repeal the Abattoir and Meat Inspection Act 1973, the Poultry Processing Act 1968 and the Abattoir and Meat Inspection (Arrangements) Act 1987; - to repeal or amend various other Acts.
