Proposal P1041 – Removal of Country of Origin Labelling Requirements

Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) has assessed a proposal to remove country of origin labelling (CoOL) requirements from the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code in response to new arrangements where the requirements will fall under Australian Consumer Law, and has prepared a draft food regulatory measure. On 22 January 2016, FSANZ sought submissions on a draft variation and published an associated report. FSANZ received 15 submissions. FSANZ approved the draft variation on 16 June 2016. The Australia and New Zealand Ministerial Forum on Food Regulation (Forum) was notified of FSANZ’s decision on 28 June 2016.
