Proposal M1019 - Review of Schedule 22 – Foods and classes of foods (2021) (Approval Report)

Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) prepared and assessed a proposal to review Schedule 22 – Foods and classes of foods of the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code (the Code), to align with the crop groups, foods, classes and subgroups referenced or adopted by the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority and Codex Alimentarius. FSANZ prepared a draft variation to amend Schedule 22 and a draft variation to make consequential amendments to other Standards. On 4 April 2022, FSANZ sought submissions on the draft variations and published an associated report. FSANZ received seven submissions. FSANZ approved the draft variations, with amendments, on 8 June 2022. The Food Ministers’ Meeting (formerly The Australia and New Zealand Ministerial Forum on Food Regulation) was notified of FSANZ’s decision on 16 June 2022.
