FSANZ Imported food risk assessment

This document describes how Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) assesses food safety risks in foods imported into Australia. It also outlines how FSANZ works closely with the Australian Government Department of Agriculture and Water Resources to enhance the safety of imported foods. Food imported into New Zealand is considered via a separate process. This is a living document. Minor amendments, updates and additions will be made from time-to-time. This version focusses on the assessment of microbiological hazards. The next version of this document will include specific guidance for the assessment of chemical hazards in imported foods
