Do I need to make a "genetically modified" statement?
The sale and use of food produced using gene technology is prohibited unless their use is expressly permitted in the Table to Clause 2 of Standard 1.5.2 of the Food Standards Code. This general prohibition excludes substances regulated as a food additive or as a processing aid. This guide will address the labelling issues that may arise from the use of permitted food that have produced using gene technology, in particular when and how you have to label a product with a ‘gene modified’ warning.
