Application A1191 - Mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids (INS 471) as glazing agent for fruits and vegetables (Approval Report)

Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) has assessed an application made by Apeel Sciences to extend the use of the food additive mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids (INS 471) as a glazing agent for fresh fruits and vegetables. On 3 September 2020, FSANZ sought submissions on a draft variation and published an associated report. FSANZ received eight submissions (and one late submission). FSANZ approved the draft variation on 3 February 2021. The Australia and New Zealand Ministerial Forum on Food Regulation was notified of FSANZ’s decision on 5 February 2021.
