Application A1140 - Food derived from Herbicide-tolerant Canola Line MS11 (Approval Report)

Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) received an Application from Bayer CropScience on 9 December 2016. The Applicant requested a variation to Schedule 26 in the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code (the Code) to include food from a new genetically modified (GM) canola (Brassica napus) line, MS11. This canola line has been genetically modified to confer two novel agronomic traits—tolerance to the broad spectrum herbicide glufosinate ammonium and expression of male sterility. The FSANZ Board has approved the draft variation to Schedule 26 that includes permission for food derived from herbicide-tolerant canola line MS11.
