New requirements for alcoholic beverage labelling and marketing

Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) has approved amendments arising from two new proposals (P1049 and P1059) regarding sugar claims and energy information on alcoholic beverages. Apart from the importance of these changes, this article also elaborates, with commentary, on other efforts that have sought to reduce the promotion of alcohol leading to excessive consumption. These include the impact of mandatory pregnancy warning labels and other words to be used under the ABAC Code.
