Impacts of new AANA Environmental Claims Code
On 1 March 2025 the Australian Association of National Advertisers (AANA) released an updated Environmental Claims Code with immediate effect. This is a method of industry self-regulation by which advertising standards are self-regulated through the advertising industry body Ad Standards; and such standards are typically adopted by major retailers in their own private standards for compliance by their suppliers. This article explores the different types of environmental claims that are commonly made in relation to food products, and how the new Environmental Claims Code could impact food marketing.
