FSANZ Proposal P1030 to limit health claims and nutrition content claims for electrolyte drinks

Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) Proposal P1030 in relation to composition and labelling of electrolyte drinks has received its final approval and will become law (subject to awaiting the expiry date of any potential but unlikely Ministerial veto). This article examines the changes to the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code for the making of health claims and nutrition content claims for electrolyte drinks, as well as the broader implications for implementation of FSANZ Proposal P1030 on electrolyte drink regulation in Australia and New Zealand.
