How flexible is our health claims system? A point in time review of self-substantiated health claims

This article examines the Australia system of notified self-substantiated health claims. In particular, this article reviews the self-substantiated health claims that have been published on the FSANZ website as of July 2018, and considers what health claims the food industry believes may sway consumers, what research is available, and what regulatory gaps may exist in the Australian health claims legislation.
