Waste management regulatory regimes in Australia and further developments to watch

In April 2018, the seventh meeting of Environment Ministers discussed Australia’s recyclable waste problem, in response to the policy change made by the Chinese government to limit China’s intake of imported waste from around the world. What mechanisms are in place in Australia to deal with waste management? This article considers the Australian regulatory framework for the product cycle economy in reference to dealing with food waste and food packaging waste.
