Food safety and the prevention of food contamination in imported products is always a priority for Australian regulators and the food industry. This article addresses the mandatory reporting responsibilities for all food importers under Australia’s biosecurity laws. This article considers the types of biosecurity risks that must be reported for foods imported into Australia, no matter which State or Territory, as well as who must report, how to report and the consequences for any failure to report.
