What the abandonment of FSANZ Proposal P1034 means for packaging regulation in Australia

On 12 October 2017 Food Standards Australia New Zealand announced that it was abandoning Proposal P1034, the aim of which was to review and potentially rethink the way Australia regulates packaging materials and chemical migration in relation to food products. This article explains the current requirements for food packaging products for use in Australia, and how this is impacted by the abandonment of Proposal P1034.
